Carrot seed oil is a powerful antioxidant. According to an article on HealthOnline https://www.healthline.com/health/carrot-seed-oil Carrot seed oil is "packed with nutrients" and "appropriate for aging" and we have found it is beneficial for both oily and dry skin, sensitive and normal skin. Its oils won't clog face pores which is another reason I love it so much along with the lovely natural Vitamin C naturally present.
According to Very Well Health Online, a conclusion was made "that carrot seed oil has potent antibacterial properties and was able to inhibit the growth of staphylococcal, streptococcal, and listeria bacteria. This effect was mainly attributed to a chemical called alpha-pinene which is able to kill bacteria without damaging underlying skin cells."
What impresses me most about carrot seed oil is how it helps our skin build strength and resilience before we go out into the sun. In other words, it helps strengthen the skin cells' ability to protect our skin from free radical damage caused by overexposure to UV rays (one of the main causes of premature aging and carcinomas). Yes, you read that correctly! Carrot seed oil enables your own skin to protect itself better than your skin could do on its own.
I regularly apply it when I am indoors because it enables my own skins' ability to work better- a lot better. Obviously, too much sun on your skin can cause spots and it's important to wear sunblock if you'll be in the sun for an extended period of time. Applying carrot seed oil beforehand gives you that extra edge of protection- think of it as an insurance policy for your health and appearance. Wise women know the power of staying youthful- prevention!
A scientific study was published on the benefits if using Carrot Seed Oil to inhibit skin carcinomas (skin cancer). Here is a direct quote from the scientific literatur
"(Regarding Carrot Seed Oil) The present data reveal that F2 fraction has a remarkable antitumor activity against DMBA/TPA-induced skin carcinogenesis, an effect that may be mediated through inhibition of the MAPK/ERK and PI3K/AKT pathways". read more here https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28073348 and here https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29674280
In other words, the medium used to create carcinoma was stopped by the carrot seed oil constituents.
Carrot seed oil is beneficial to apply at night as well as in the day. That's why I include it in the elixir and face cream. It's there to help your skin fight free radical damage caused by the breakdown of your own skin's natural barrier. By infusing the carrot seed and herbs /oils into an emulsion (water and oil cream) we are now enabling the constituents (micro molecules) to get past the "lock and key" portion of the lipid layers of your skin allowing the botanicals to absorb further into the derma (deeper layers of your skin) producing a more plumped and elastic smooth refined appearance and helping your skin to protect itself for years to come. Thank you Queen Anne!
